Value Type

Value Type represents the type of data associated with a specification field in an asset configuration. It defines the specific format or input type - such as text, numbers, or toggles - for the specification of value to ensure data remains consistent and manageable.

Key Details:

Tax codes are essential for ensuring accurate financial calculations, maintaining compliance with local tax regulations, and providing clear financial reporting.

  • System Category: This term falls under the Specification – General (Summary) section of the software.
  • Available Formats: The system provides several input options, including Decimal Number for measurements, Pick List for fixed choices, Text for descriptive labels, Whole Number for counts, and Yes | No for binary responses.

Use Case Example

If you are adding a specification for “Asset Color,” you will select Pick List as the Value Type and provide predefined options like Red, Blue, and Green. Alternatively, for a specification like “Is it under warranty?”, you would choose the Yes | No format to give the user a simple binary choice during asset setup.

Think of it as the “format gatekeeper” for your data – it makes sure you don’t accidentally type “Heavy” into a field meant for a numeric weight!
