Service Taxable

ervice Taxable is a configuration setting that determines whether service-related charges - such as labor, cleaning, or repair fees - are subject to taxation.

Key Details:

While the rental of the asset itself often has its own tax logic, Service Taxable allows the system to distinguish between the physical item and the professional services provided alongside it.

  • System Category: This toggle is primarily found within the Tax Code – Summary section and can be overridden at the Order Line Item level.
  • Granular Control: It allows businesses to comply with varying regional tax laws, where some jurisdictions may tax equipment rentals but exempt the labor associated with maintaining or cleaning that equipment.
  • Financial Accuracy: When enabled, the system automatically applies the linked Tax Code percentage to all service line items, updating the Estimated Revenue and final invoice totals in real-time.
  • Integration: This setting works in tandem with the Agreement Taxable status to ensure the entire contract adheres to the correct fiscal requirements.

Use Case Example

A rental company in a region where “Asset Rental” is taxed at 8% but “General Services” are tax-exempt would configure their system with Service Taxable turned off. If a customer rents a pressure washer for $100 and returns it needing a $50 professional cleaning service, the system will calculate the taxes
