Consumable

Consumable refers to items that are tracked as a group or by total quantity rather than as individual units. These are classified as non-serialized assets within the system.

Key Details:

  • System Category: This term is managed under the Asset Group – General (Summary) section.

  • Tracking Method: Unlike serialized equipment, consumables are monitored by the number of units available, rented, or sold as a collective group

Use Case Example

A rental company stocks a large inventory of items such as cables or chairs. Instead of assigning a unique identifier to every single chair, the business tracks them as a “Consumable” asset group. This allows the system to show that 50 chairs are available for a new order without requiring the user to track each one’s specific maintenance history or serial number.
